| Puerto Plata: was
founded by Nicolás de Ovando in 1502. Christopher Columbus names
this city Puerto Plata, because of the shimmering silver color of
its coast at sunset. Puerto Plata is like any metropolitan city
with an abundance of public transportation, shops, restaurants and
sights. The architecture in Puerto Plata is a love of many Art
History majors. In addition, the Malecon (similar to a Boardwalk
as described in the United States) is a beautiful view at anytime
day or night, with much to do on the Malecon, there is never a
reason to leave. |

Along the north, amber coastline rests Cofresi, named after
Captain Cofresi, one of the most famous pirates of the Caribbean!
Cofresi today, is a prominent resort area with hotels, private
villas and out of this world ocean views. Cofresi also hides one
of the North Coast’s prime attractions, Ocean World. Ocean World
offers the Dolphin Lagoon, the Sea Lion Pool and Seawater Intake,
and the Shark Encounter. It is a wonderful place for the whole
